Liguria Marathon – ‘The Marathon on the Sea’

 

The RunRivieraRun Amateur Athletic Association and the Chicchi di Riso Onlus Association, under the authority of the Italian Federation of Light Athletics (FIDAL) and in collaboration with the Region of Liguria, the Province of Savona, Savona City Council, Loano City Council, Pietra Ligure City Council, Borgio Verezzi Town Council, Finale Ligure City Council, Noli Town Council, Spotorno Town Council, Bergeggi Town Council and Vado Town Council, have organized the first edition of the Liguria Marathon. To be held on Sunday the 22nd of April 2018, the route will take athletes 42.195 kilometers, starting from Loano Marina at 9 am, to Savona, where they will run a one lap city-circuit approximately 7 km long.

 

Participation Requirements

 

Art. 1) Registration for Athletes residing in Italy

 

In accordance with the ‘Rules for event organization’ issued by FIDAL, the right to participate is extended to registered athletes who are over 20 years of age and in possession of one of the following requisites:

 

  • 2018 membership with a FIDAL affiliated athletic association/club (it is obligatory to fill out the registration forms with the number of the specific association/club and the athlete’s personal code)
  • Possession of a Runcard. Athlete participation is in any case subject to:
  1. A) Either the athlete in question presenting an original, valid and up-to-date medical certificate that attests to his/her eligibility for light athletics and a photocopy of the same that will be kept by the event organizers. Medical certificates for foreign non residents can be issued abroad, but they must include the same medical exams as the Italian certificate: a) a medical checkup b) a complete urine test c) an ElectroCardioGram following exertion d) a lung function test
  2. B) Or the organizer’s confirmation of an existing valid medical certificate specific for competitive athletics, using the Runcard database.
  3. C) Or the organizer’s confirmation of an existing valid medical certificate specific for competitive athletics, using the relative application on a tablet/phone, etc.
  • Athletes who are members of Sports Promotion Authorities (in the athletic section) who possess a Runcard-EPS; however, participation is still subject to:
  1. A) Either the athlete in question presenting an original, valid and up-to-date medical certificate that attests to his/her eligibility for light athletics and a photocopy of the same that will be kept by the event organizers. Medical certificates for foreign non residents can be issued abroad, but they must include the same medical exams as the Italian certificate: a) a medical checkup b) a complete urine test c) an ElectroCardioGram before and after exertion d) a lung function test
  2. B) Or the organizer’s confirmation of an existing valid medical certificate specific for competitive athletics, using the Runcard database.
  3. C) Or the organizer’s confirmation of an existing valid medical certificate specific for competitive athletics, using the relative application on a tablet/phone, etc.
  • Unregistered athletes who are resident in Italy may request membership from the RunRivieraRun Amateur Athletic Association (with annual FIDAL membership) by directly contacting the organization.

 

ART. 2) Participation for Athletes Residing Abroad

 

Participation is allowed to Italian and foreign athletes who are not residents in Italy older than 20 years old and who possess one of the following requirements:

  • a) membership pertaining to affiliated associations of a foreign Light Athletics Federation recognized by the IAAF. At the time of registration, athletes will alternatively have to present:

– A self-certification that attests to possessing an IAAF- recognized membership.  The self-certification will then be signed at the moment the athlete is given his/her number bib.

– Said membership must cover the practice of competitive road racing, according to the rules and regulations of the athlete’s country of residence.

  • b) possession of a Runcard (see art. 1, points a,b,c; and art. 3)

 

Art. 3) Runcards and Medical Certificates for Competitive Athletics – registration reserved for athletes Art. 1 points A,B and C; Art. 2 point B

 

The FIDAL Runcard is obligatory in Italy, is inclusive of insurance coverage, must be valid on the date of the race or event, and showing respect for the rules which is inherent to what the Runcard represents is strictly the athlete’s responsibility.

 

How Do I get a Runcard?

  1. a) Athletes who are Italian residents must sign up for it at runcard.com
  2. b) EPS-member Athletes who reside in Italy must sign up through their own Athletic Association or, if unaffiliated, at runcard.com
  3. c) Athletes who are resident abroad can obtain it through the event organizer. It will be sent via email to the applicant (within 72 hours of payment).

 

The medical certificate for competitive light athletics, which is obligatory in Italy, must be valid on the date of the event, issued by the athlete’s personal doctor in his/her country of residence and it must attest that all obligatory exams were carried out, according to Italian law: a medical checkup, a complete urine test, an Electrocardiogram before and after exertion and a lung function test.

Non other forms of certifications or declarations are accepted, and it is obligatory to send or present the original version of said form to the event organizers before receiving the number bib.

Athletes can register online, using the portal www.enternow.it. Send valid medical certificates for competitive light athletics the day of the race to the dedicated email address: liguriamarathon@tds-live.com

 

In the event the athlete does not have a profile on the site, in order to proceed to registration it will be necessary to create one.

 

At the end of the procedure, the applicant can choose whether to pay by credit card or bank transfer. In the event the applicant chooses to pay by bank transfer, he/she will receive an email stating exact instructions for payment (IBAN number, total fee, payment description) and then by sending everything by Fax to: (+39)0415088343

 

Athletes must be registered online no later than Midnight on Thursday the 19th of April.  Only FIDAL-member athletes and athletes who possess Runcards will be able to register at the ExpoMarathon Village, Loano Marina on the 20th and no later than 2 pm on the 21st.

 

Registration is subject to the payment of the registration fee. Athletes who do not participate in the race will lose their right to a refund of the registration fee paid previously.

Sports Clubs can register groups using info@liguriamarathon.com, specifying all of the participating athletes’ personal information and FIDAL membership numbers.

 

Sports Club can register for discounted fees depending on the number of participating athletes.  The number of participating athletes, in any case, must be communicated ONCE only and must not be changed.

 

Discounts are as follow:  5 athletes = 1 Free registration, 10 athletes = 2 free registrations, and so on.

 

Athletes who are members of other athletic federations (i.e. FITRI) are not considered members and must follow FIDAL rules (i.e. Registration and membership FIDAL, Runcard)

 

Art. 6) Payment Methods

 

Payment can be made on the portal at www.enternow.it by credit card or bank transfer, visiting Liguria Marathon Info Points or in cash by visiting the RunRivieraRun offices in Montaldo 22, Pietra Ligure.

 

Sports Clubs and Associations may pay by creating a sole list of participants from their club and using  RunRivieraRun’s bank details:

Art. 7)  Registration Cancellation

 

We remind all athletes that in order to be effectively registered to take part in the Liguria Marathon all payments must be made according to the abovementioned methods, within 10 days of registration.  After the 10 day period, if payment has not been made, the athlete’s registration will be cancelled from the system and he/she will have to repeat the procedure.

 

Art. 8)  Registration Confirmation

 

Registration confirmation will be sent in the days immediately following receipt of the completed registration forms, receipt of payment and any and all related documents.

 

Art. 9) Registration Fee Transfer

 

Registration fees are non-refundable.  In the event an athlete cannot participate in the Liguria Marathon, he/she can:

  1. a) Transfer the registration fee to another person. The person registered in replacement will have to pay a supplement equal to €10 in administration fees, supply all relevant personal information and how he/she intends to participate (i.e. Registering as a member or by medical certificate). The registration transfer and relative supplemental payment must be formalized by the 31st of March 2018.
  2. b) Transfer the registration to the following year’s edition of the marathon, paying a supplementary administration fee equal to €10 by the 31st of March 2018 and another equal to €15 by the 15th of April 2018, formalizing the expressed request.

 

Sports Clubs or Associations that request changes to registered participants must pay a supplementary fee for each number bib equal to €2 by the 31st of March 2018 and another equal to €5 by the 15th of April 2018.

 

Art. 10) Number Bib and Race Kit Collection

 

Athletes can collect their number bibs and race kits at the Expo Marathon Village in the Loano Marina on the 20th and 21st of April, from 10 am to 7 pm, and from 7 am to 8 am on the day of the race, the 22nd of April.

 

Group collection by Sports Clubs or Associations is not provided for.

 

When the athlete collects his/her number bib, member athletes must present a valid personal form of identification; athletes registered with Runcard must present, in addition to identification, a photocopy of their medical certificates.

 

It will be possible to collect another athlete’s number bib and race kit by presenting authorization signed by the athlete in question, along with a copy of his/her medical certificate and a photocopy of his/her identity document.

 

Art. 11) Pacer Service

 

Organizers will be making a Pacer service available to the athletes. The Pacers will be easily recognizable to all participants, each characterized by balloons whose color indicates a specific speed group and a specific shirt denoting their Pacer status.

 

The Pacers will be charged with running at a constant pace with the goal of arriving at the finish line in the following times:

 

3 hrs / 3 hrs 10 mins / 3 hrs 20 mins / 3 hrs 30 mins / 3 hrs 40 mins / 3 hrs 50 mins / 4 hrs / 4 hrs 10 mins/ 4 hrs 20 mins / 4 hrs 30 mins / 4 hrs 4 mins / 4 hrs 50 mins / 5 hrs

 

Above 5 hours the athletes will find our Motivator Pacers.

 

Art. 12) Prizes

 

Cash Prizes will be provided to the top ten male and top ten female Italian and foreign athletes who are members of clubs or associations affiliated with FIDAL, with total prize money of € 3500.  First prize will be  €500, 2nd = €400, 3rd = €300, 4th = €200, 5th = €100, and €50 to places 6 through 10, both in the Mens and Womens categories.  The cash prizes will not be paid out the day of the race, but rather paid into the athletes’ accounts via bank transfer by 21707/2018.

 

The first three male and first three female athletes to finish who come from the following categories will receive a prize:  Juniors/Talents, MS, MS35, MS40 and so on up to MS70 and beyond, as well as Juniors/Talents, FS, FS35, FS40 and so on to FS70 and beyond.

 

No prize money (or similar compensation such as generic vouchers, bonuses, contracts or reimbursement of any kind) can be provided to athletes in possession of ‘Runcard’ or ‘Runcard EPS’.

 

 

Prize Money

 

The total prize money of this event is equal to €3500.

 

The Cost of Registration covers:

 

  1. 1 Race kit, including tech gadgets and products offered by the event’s sponsors.
  2. 1 Number bib with an integrated TDS microchip used to electronically track race times.
  3. Third-Party Civil Liability Insurance.
  4. Free activities at the Expo Marathon Village.
  5. A Medal for the athletes who finish in the top of their respective categories.
  6. 1 Diploma of participation displaying the athlete’s arrival time, which can be downloaded at enternow.it, or received by text if the athlete gives his/her mobile phone number (leggible) at the time of registration.
  7. Refreshment upon Arrival.
  8. Technical assistance (refreshment and sponging along the race route).
  9. Guaranteed medical assistance along the entire race route, including emergency services deployed to fixed points of the marathon route and at the Finish Line.
  10. Timing service.
  11. Pacemaker service.
  12. Safekeeping of the athletes bags and personal effects (locked aboard vehicles provided by the event organizers; dropoff – Loano, collection – Savona.
  13. Bathrooms and changing rooms at the Starting Line (Loano Marina).
  14. Showers, bathrooms and mens and womens changing rooms at the Finish Line (Savona).
  15. Upon arrival, massages conducted by a team of professional osteopaths and physiotherapists.
  16. Shuttle service for athletes to return to Loano – suggested donation €1 or more, in favor of the project Charity 2018.
  17. Shuttle service from Savona to Loano before the race – suggested donation €1 or more for the Charity 2018 project.

 

The abovementioned shuttle service is reserved for use of the participating athletes identified by their bibs.  Only athletes/runners who, at the time of registration, specifically request the shuttle service will be able to use them.

 

 

Information

 

The maximum allowed time to complete the marathon will be 6 hours and 30 minutes due to congestion caused by local traffic, but in any case all finishers will be inserted into the official final rankings.

 

All finishers, including those who do not finish within the maximum time limit, will receive an official Liguria Marathon medal upon their arrival at the Finish Line area.

 

The marathon route has been measured and certified by the official FIDAL Route Measurers .

 

Timing services will be carried out using microchips integrated into the number bibs provided, which allows the Real-Time recording from the Start to Finish lines. The microchips must be returned to event organizers following the athlete receiving his/her official medal. In the event the microchip is not returned (including accidental loss during the event and non, in the event of retirement from the race, or inability to participate for whatever reason in the Liguria Marathon) the athlete/club in question agrees to pay the event organizers €20 per chip, as is stipulated by prior agreement in the documents the athlete signs at the time he/she collects the number bib and recognizes his/her right to seek damages as null and void.

 

The bib, which must be positioned on the chest in such a way that it is visible and must not be reduced in any way before or during the race (rule 143.8), does not have to return to the event organizers following completion of the marathon.

 

Automatic Timing Services will be carried out by TDS (Times Data Service) www.tds-live.com

 

The official Final rankings will be available starting from the end of the race ,Sunday the 22nd of April on www.tds-live.com, and on Monday  the 23rd of April on www.liguriamarathon.com

 

Refreshment will be provided for every 5 kilometers, as per FIDAL regulations, and sponges will start to be available from the 7.5 km marker, every 5 km. These services are for registered athletes whose bibs are visible. Said services will not be made available to unidentified athletes present on the route.

 

Photographic services will be present during the Marathon thanks to Pieffe Loano.

 

The event organizers are covered by insurance for accidents that participants, third parties or things may suffer before, during or after the event.

 

In accordance with Rule 144.3(a) of the GTR, the following will not be allowed and causes disqualification:

 

  • People running who are not official participants in the marathon
  • the presence of helpers or chaperones both on bicycle and in motor vehicle

 

In accordance with Regulation 240.8 (h), athletes must not:

 

  • Receive or take water in places other than those pre-established by the event organizers

 

In accordance with Regulation 144.4 (d), athletes may individually bring heart monitors, speed monitors and stride counters but said devices must not be used to communicate with others.

Image Rights

 

Athletes registered to participate in the Liguria Marathon expressly authorize the free use of their personal images; including still images, filmed images and personal information, both on television, the internet and in newspapers, with the intent to promote and popularize Liguria Marathon and present and future promotional and athletic events connected to Liguria Marathon.

 

Safeguard Clause

 

By sending the Liguria Marathon registration forms, both the athletes and the directors of said athletes’ Sports Clubs acknowledge and accept the regulations published at www.liguriamarathon.com

 

For anything that is not dealt with in the rules here present, ‘Event Organization Regulations 2018’ and Global Technical Regulations are in effect.

 

Athletes who do not transit past the data collection stations along the Liguria Marathon route will be disqualified.

 

Event Cancellation

 

In the event the race were to be cancelled, postponed to another date and/or unsuccessful for reasons not depending on nor attributable to the event organizers’ intentions (comprising the revocation of public permits on the part of local government bodies), registered participants will not demand anything from RunRivieraRun Amateur Athletics Association, including reimbursement for expenses past, present and future.  Registered participants renounce the right to any and all requests for compensation and/or reimbursement and/or demands for reintegration.

 

Information

 

The organizers reserve the right to modify regulations herein at any time, for the purposes of guaranteeing the best possible event management. Any eventual modifications to services, locations and schedules will be communicated to athletes via email or published on the site www.liguriamarathon.com
